Welcome to Physics:
Welcome to The Real World of Physics at LHS. This is the place to find any information about the Physics program at LHS.
First of all, what is the study of Physics concerned with?
Physics is the most fundamental of all sciences, and is the basis of all other sciences - Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry. But the roots of Physics begins with Forces and Energy.

Physics is the study of the Fundamental Forces in the Universe, and the implications of all forms of Energy. These forces and energy have had an impact on the nature of the Universe in the Past, at Present, and in the Future. The goal of the physicist is to understand these concepts.
A background in Physics is important to any student interested in the study of Applied Science, Engineering, or Medicine in college. It is also useful to students with an interest in Technology, Law Enforcement, or Education.

At Lockport High School we offer three Physics courses:

1. NYS Regents - Physical Setting: Physics
Recommended to students who's goal is to achieve NYS Regents
Credit. This is the textbook used in this course.

2. SUNY College ( Algebra Based ) Physics

About SUNY Credit

Lockport High School is affiliated with Niagara County Community College. College credit for all science courses is arranged by enrolling through NCCC. At the beginning of each college semester ( September and January ) students will schedule for the appropriate course and pay the tuition based upon the number of credit hours for each course. Each semester all Physics courses are 4.0 credit hours. The cost per credit hour for LHS students is $55.00 ( or $220 per course ). This is a greatly reduced rate, since NCCC student's tuition rate is $181.00 per credit hour ( or $724 per course ).
